Daily Announcements

The Charleston County School District is embarking on a journey of continued excellence with 'Charleston Achieving Excellence: Vision 2016.'  As a school district, we want to be recognized as a great place for students to learn, teachers to teach, employees to work, and parents to send their children for an excellent education.  In order to be successful, we need your help; we want and need to hear from you.

Please take a few minutes and complete the parent satisfaction survey found at this link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Charleston_Parent_052012.  It will take about 10 minutes to complete the survey.  In addition, this survey is being administered and analyzed by an outside group - Studer Education, so all your comments will remain confidential.

Thank you for taking your time to help us make the experience of every student in our school better.

Sign Up for Parent Portal!

We are excited to announce that C. E. Williams Middle School will be granting parents access to the PowerSchool (PS) – Parent Portal.  This will allow you to access up-to date information on your child’s grades and attendance.  You will be able to simply click on your child’s grade in a class and see the complete list of assignments and grades; and be able to e-mail your child’s teachers by simply clicking on their name within the grade book.

In order to access the Parent Portal, you will need access to a computer with internet access and a working e-mail account, to which you alone have access.

We are asking that you e-mail the following information to: Lynn_Feldman@charleston.k12.sc.us.

1)     Your child’s or your children’s full legal names – as they appear on their birth certificates

2)     Your full legal name

3)     Your current address

4)     Your best day-time contact phone number

5)     If you already have a Parent Portal guardian account for a student at another school, please provide that information. Your existing account can access multiple students.

We will verify your information and will e-mail you:

  • Your private user name and password
  • A live link to the Parent Portal Website
  • Information on how to access and maximize the PS Parent Portal.

We hope that this will help keep you informed of your child’s progress and improve parent-teacher communication.  Please contact us with any questions or concerns.

WHAT IS THE PARENT PORTAL?

PowerSchool is the district's new electronic student management system where we collect and store student information.  The  Portal is the "doorway" into our system giving parents access to information about their children.  To access the Parent Portal, parents/guardians and students sign in from Charleston County School District's PowerSchool Parent Portal login screen.  No special software is needed.  All you need is a computer with Internet access and your own user information (a username and password will be provided to you by the school district). You may use your home computer, a computer at a public library or anywhere that you have Internet access.

WHY VISIT THE PARENT PORTAL?

The PowerSchool Parent Portal gives parents and students access to real-time information including attendance, grades, and detailed assignment descriptions and teacher comments.  Everyone stays connected.  Students can stay on top of assignments, parents are able to participate in their student's progress, and teachers can share information with parents and students.

LOGGING IN TO THE PARENT PORTAL FOR THE FIRST TIME

You may access the PowerSchool Parent Portal by clicking or pasting the following link in an internet browser: https://powerschool.charleston.k12.sc.us/public/.  You will be directed to the Parent Portal Log-In screen.  Please follow the instructions in the following pages. You will need the information below. Note:  You can copy and paste the information. Be sure to distinguish between the number 1 and Capital I, and number 0 and Capital O.

USING THE PARENT PORTAL

Once you are on the Student Screen, you will notice the student's grades in the box next to the course name.  If you click on the blue grade, you will be able to see all of the assignments for that class.  Also, if you click on the teacher name, you will be able to email that teacher directly. Teachers are expected to make bi-weekly updates.  If you are not seeing updates, email the teacher directly and find out why.

WHAT IF I LOSE MY LOG-IN INFORMATION?

If you lose your username and password, please email:  CEWparentportalhelp@charleston.k12.sc.us or lynn_feldman@charleston.k12.sc.us  Arrangements will be made to get replacement information.

We strongly believe that the Parent Portal will be a useful way for you to follow the progress of your student(s).  If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please feel free to contact us at:

CEWparentportalhelp@charleston.k12.sc.us or lynn_feldman@charleston.k12.sc.us
